7 Homelander Moments That Made Us Question Everything

"You're not the real heroes, I'm the real hero."

Homelander from Prime Video’s popular series “The Boys” has probably become one of the most questionable superheroes in comic book history. Seasons one to three were definitely packed to the brim with traumatizing Homelander moments that will leave us all scarred forever, yet, we still can’t get enough of his dairy-obsessed madness.

Currently, the team behind the show are in the middle of filming the fourth instalment of the series, with plans to release the new episodes sometime in 2023 or early 2024. So, while we wait for them, here are seven Homelander moments that made us all question our life choices and maybe even our own sanity.

7. Homelander’s Dairy Obsession

Do you remember the moment when we all found out about Homelander’s odd obsession and uncomfortable thrill when it comes to drinking dairy products?

Antony Starr himself mentioned in the past that the whole milk gag was more of a quick joke on set, but producer Eric Kripke proposed they keep it going because of how funny and weird it was.

6. Father and Son Time

Homelander and Ryan on the roof

Some of the most insightful scenes into Homelander’s character development is when he spends time with his biological son, Ryan Butcher. Homelander’s childhood was, let’s just say unique, and he really does jump at any opportunity to bring an ounce of happiness into his life.

Ryan Butcher, his son, has given a completely different outlook to the fans as Homelander has shown on multiple occasions that he truly does care about him. We have seen him slaughter innocent people, ditch his adoring fans, to even stand up against his childhood hero all just to protect Ryan.

5. Peer Pressure at Work

Just when we begin to feel sorry for Homelander, he is always just two minutes away from reminding us how evil he truly is. We mustn’t forget the countless inhumane acts of horror he has inflicted on others.

Although he is infamous for his actions toward innocent strangers around the world, some of his darkest moments have been towards his very own team. Similar to Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, Homelander also seems to take pride in belittling his team on a daily basis.

4. Letting Too Much Slide

Homelander Hospital Scene with Stormfront

One of the most confusing relationships in Homelander’s life would be his romantic endeavour with Stormfront, the 100-year-old Nazi lady. Although it didn’t always seem like he was too into her ideals, he did love the fact that she looked to him to be the most superior man on the planet.

However, Stormfront shows us that as long as you treat Homelander the way she did, he is willing to let anything slide. Not to mention the scenes he shares with her in Season 3, which really proves the point trying to be made here.

3. Young or Old, He Doesn’t Care

The Boys really does set the tone well when it comes to how people look up to their heroes vs the dark reality of what goes on behind the curtain. From members of the Seven assaulting innocent people to major corporations covering up dirty scandals.

Well, Homelander is by far the biggest example of this in the show, not only letting his fans down time after time but also butchering his protestors right in front of them. Such as shooting down a plane with a child fan who is simply looking out the window, adoring his favourite superhero.

2. Showing His True Colours

Homelander Season 3 Ending

Throughout the first three seasons, Homelander has attempted to remain calm and collected as possible when facing the public. The thought of ruining his image and popularity has been his biggest enemy, which he reminds us of in almost every episode.

However, the recent events of season 3 have pushed him to a severe breaking point, which should have inflicted fear into the hearts of millions. Although he literally kills a rallying protestor, in public too, his fans just applaud and roar in excitement.

1. Running Away From His Problems

Homelander vs The Boys (Season 3)

If Soldier Boy taught us anything, it was that it is actually possible to make Homelander scared of losing a fight. We are usually given the all-powerful and unbeatable “supe” that won’t take no for an answer, but season 3 changes this.

Butcher, Hughie, and Soldier Boy all take on Homelander and prove that he is truly beatable and will indeed scamper in a hurry when pushed into a corner. However, it would still take a very large force to actually beat him as he still manages to escape even while being pinned down by three enhanced people.
