Did you SPOT the brief glimpse at some new gameplay from Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 video game featured in Sony’s Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse? Brand-new footage from the upcoming PlayStation 5 web swinger can be seen at one point during the Into The Spider-Verse sequel but it only shows around a few seconds of it.
However, the new gameplay reveals Spider-Man donning an Iron Spider suit once again with Miles Morales’ best friend Ganke being the one playing the game.
Insomniac community manager James Stevenson confirmed the new gameplay on the popular gaming forum Resetera by responding with “It is new” when asked “This looks new? I don’t remember this in the showcase trailer.”
The question itself was in response to a shared tweet that featured a video of the quick easter egg spotted in Across The Spider-Verse. The tweet captioned with “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay can be seen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.
New Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Details
The Across The Spider-Verse scene that features new gameplay from Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is quick but it does show a fair amount in the time it has. Peter Sohn’s Ganke aka Miles Morales’ best friend is the one who can be seen actually playing the game.
The footage shows Spider-Man wearing an Iron Spider suit while in full combat. Spidey performs a web pull while using his Iron Spider mechanical legs to support him while he effectively kicks his opponent into the air. This movie specifically was what caused fans of the original instalment to realise that the footage was from Spider-Man 2.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is now playing in theatres worldwide and Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 releases later this year.
