Breaking Down The First ‘Across The Spider-Verse’ Posters

We break down as many major easter eggs and variants as we can find.

Across The Spider-Verse Poster

So, the poster for ‘Across The Spider-Verse’ has been released, almost a week after the official trailer was revealed online; and it is amazing!

Miles Morales is going to be diving into the multiverse in the second instalment of the series, which will be something he has yet to experience, making the unknown even more unknown. One thing we do know for certain is that the number of Spider-Man/Woman variants in the sequel will be far greater in size compared to the first film.

Miles’ Spider-Man even appears to be in a fight with dozens of these variants at one point in the trailer, however, some theorists have explored the idea that the teaser could be deceiving us.

New Poster For Across The Spider-Verse

Well, we have yet another look at all of these variants in the first official poster for ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-V erse’, which you can see below via our Twitter. Sony are really going above and beyond with this one, as it seems the amount of variants range in the dozens to hundreds region, potentially making this the most easter-egg filled Marvel movie of all time.

However, this is the wider international version of the poster, we will be using the full poster as it contains more variants to break down.

‘Across The Spider-Verse’ comes to theatres on the 2nd of June, 2023, with the sequel after that ‘Beyond The Spider-Verse’ coming in 2024.

Poster ‘Variants’ Breakdown

Let’s break down every major easter egg and character that can be spotted in the poster, one by one, as there is just too much detail to take in with one glance. So with that being said, let’s dive in and see how many new variants we can spot.

Spider-Punk / Hobart Brown

Spider-Punk, who will be played by Daniel Kaluuya, gets its official debut in the first poster, Kaluuya also played W’Kabi in ‘Black Panther’ so this won’t be his first Marvel-rodeo.

Scarlet Spider / Benjamin Reilly

Next up we have our first official look at the Scarlet Spider variant, aka Benjamin Reilly, who is a genetic clone of Peter Parker.

Spider-Man India / Pavitr Prabhakar

Spider-Man India, aka Pavitr Prabhakar, makes his debut in the first poster, however, this was already confirmed by the team behind the film months prior.

Spider-Cat?

Yep, you read that right, a Spider-Cat variant is coming to the Spider-Verse franchise; because a pig variant just wasn’t enough for us all. We have our fingers crossed for a solid backstory from this guy, or maybe even a full-on origin flashback to really explore the character’s development.

Sun-Spider / Charlotte Webber

— MCU News – CoveredGeekly (@MCU_Covered) December 20, 2022

Sun-Spider was quickly found by fans when looking for clues in the poster, a woman known as Charlotte, or Charlie, Webber. Charlotte, in the comics, is diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), which if played in the film, could be a perfect way to spread awareness.

Spectacular Spider-Man

— MCU News – CoveredGeekly (@MCU_Covered) December 20, 2022

Spectacular Spider-Man can be seen on the edge of the poster, which made fans initially wonder if it was truly him or not, however, producer Chris Miller took to Twitter to confirm that it is.

Cowboy Spider-Man / Patrick O’Hara

— MCU News – CoveredGeekly (@MCU_Covered) December 20, 2022

Now this one has to be right, surely, as a variant in the poster can clearly be seen wearing some sort of a cowboy hat, similar to Patrick O’Hara. Cowboy Spider-Man also appeared during a spider-verse storyline when it came to the comics, the only thing he seems to be missing is a black facemask, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t him.

Anyway, that’s all we have for you as of now, there are some potential variants in the poster that would point out, but most of them have already been shown in already released promotional footage.
