The highly anticipated sequel to Rian Johnson’s ‘Knives Out’, which is titled ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’, is finally out now on Netflix for all murder mystery fans to stream and enjoy.
Taking us back to the life of Detective Benoit Blanc, portrayed by Daniel Craig, who is fed up and is itching to solve a tough murder case; a common personality trait in fictional murder mystery detectives.
Jonnson assembles an impressive set of cast members to bring us, yet another fun murder mystery movie, with plenty of twists throughout. Among Us even teases a key twist that happens later in the movie nonetheless.
Among Us Foreshadows Helen
Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc is seen playing a game of Among Us with his friends early on in the film, with Blanc being called out as the imposter during his game.
The details of what happens in the game aren’t too significant, however, the whole imposter gag is really clever foreshadowing. Janelle Monae, who plays Cassandra Brand in the sequel, is also later revealed to be a completely different character altogether; Cassandra’s sister Helen.
This moment doesn’t just come as a surprise to the characters in the film, but also to the audience watching, unless you were clever enough to figure it out yourself. Helen Brand, the twin sister, is revealed to be an imposter who is working alongside Benoit Blanc so they can gather clues.
‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ does a great job of immersing the audience in what’s going on, and this twist does really pack a punch with its level of surprise.
Hallways And Suspicion
Imposters aren’t the only reference to the popular video game, there are so many natural similarities in the film, but one seems to stand out the most.
During the final act of the film, there is a scene the characters are seen running around the luxurious island, including a set of hallways. Among Us never quite invented this notion, especially if you consider how Scooby-Doo episodes utilize this all the time, but it is still a clear nod to the game.
In Among Us, as you may know, you have to play either survive the imposter from killing you or be the imposter yourself, while running around hallways anxiously. Edward Norton does just this, along with many of the other cast members retreating to different rooms located on the island, very similar to the game indeed.
You can watch ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ now, as it streams exclusively on Netflix, we highly recommend it; especially if you are a fan of murder mysteries and/or Among Us.
