John Wick fans are getting excited as the franchise’s universe is set to expand exponentially with two new projects being developed, The Continental and Ballerina, the latter starring Ana De Armas alongside Norman Reedus, with Keanu Reeves and Lance Reddick.
The Ballerina movie is a direct spin-off of the John Wick movies and will feature a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family, played by none other than Ana De Armas (Knives Out, No Time To Die).
The Continental is a mini-series starring Mel Gibson with more talented cast members set to star alongside, however, Ballerina is a movie production that has now received a release date, as it has now been confirmed to be released in theatres on June 7th, 2024.
Post-production on the John Wick spin-off movie Ballerina began in February of this year, 2023, with filming taking place in Prague for a total of around five months. Armas has come out in the past to say how painful the experience was filming for the spin-off, rewarding, but painful due to the intense action scenes that have been filmed for the project.
The full confirmed cast, so far, includes Keanu Reeves who will be returning to star as John Wick, Lance Reddick who will be reprising the role of Charon, Ian McShane who will be reprising the role of Winston, Anjelica Huston who will be returning as The Director, with new universe cast members such as Ana De Armas who plays the titular character, Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Catalina Sandino Moreno, Gabriel Byrne, Anne Parillaud, Abraham Popoola as Frank, Caleb Spillyards, and Marc Cram as Concierge.
Ballerina is set to release in theatres on June 7, 2024.
