Ana De Armas (Blonde, Blade Runner) is reportedly being eyed to join the cast of Sony’s El Muerto, starring Bad Bunny also known as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio as the titular character, which will officially be set in Sony’s Marvel-Spider-Man universe alongside Morbius and the upcoming Madame Web movie.
It goes without saying that Armas has become one of the most prominent rising stars in the show business industry, starring in roles such as Knives Out, No Time To Die, The Gray Man and the upcoming Apple TV+ movie Ghosted alongside Chris Evans, making Ghosted the project to co-star Evans and Armas together.
Ana De Armas ‘El Muerto’ Report Details

ScreenGeek.net originally reported these new casting details for Sony’s El Muerto, with details that their sources have provided information of Ana De Armas currently being eyed to star in the movie, however, no details as to who Armas could be playing in the movie were shared.
Despite the report not including any specific character details, it is stated that Armas is reportedly being eyed to be cast as the female lead, potentially meaning that Armas’ first role in a superhero film will be a major one.
Who Is El Muerto?

El Muerto, also known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sánchez, is mostly known as a Luchador wrestler from Marvel Comics who has encountered Spider-Man on various occasions. He’s not one of the better-known characters from the comics, initially sparking debates from fans online as to why Sony chose to adapt a movie focused solely on his character.
It has been speculated in the past that El Muerto has been green-lit over at Sony due to the controversial backlash that Morbius received from the Marvel fan community, with thoughts that Sony decided to go with a lesser-known character as opposed to a fan favourite such as the vampire Morbius, played by Jared Leto in the live-action adaptation.
Regardless of whether Sony’s Spider-Man spin-offs hit it off with the fans or not, it seems that Sony has no plans on slowing down or stopping their future projects, with hopes that it will all lead to something great in the future.
El Muerto is currently set to release on January 12, 2024
