AMC’s The Walking Dead social accounts have all officially announced that both Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira have started filming for the Rick & Michonne spin-off series. The new series will be set within the universe of The Walking Dead and focus on Rick and Michonne Grimes finding each other after the many years that have gone by since Lincoln’s Rick Grimes was flown away while his group assumed the worst.
The social post announcement from the official AMC The Walking Dead Twitter account captions the post with “Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira are back on set! The next chapter of Rick and Michonne’s story begins…”. However, we recently reported that the series had begun filming on the 13th of February, possibly meaning that the show has been filming for just over a week prior to the arrival of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira.

Along with the official filming announcement from AMC’s The Walking Dead social accounts were two attached images, one showing Lincoln and Gurira holding hands in their The Walking Dead attire, another showing the two set chairs for “Rick” and “Michonne”.
Everything We Know So Far
Some details about the show have been revealed so far, such as the fact that they will be filming for six episodes which will continue the story of Michonne’s search for Rick Grimes, plus expand further into the sinister Civil Replublic group who have been a menace across all shows set in the universe so far.
There have also been reports that the working title of the Rick & Michonne series is Walking Dead: Summit, meaning that the actual title may still be awaiting an official reveal, despite the fact that the series was originally announced to be called Rick & Michonne.
The show will be set in New Jersey, which has been teased, if not confirmed, to be the main headquarters of the Civil Replublic and where Rick Grimes has been stuck throughout the many time jumps since his departure from Alexandria. The cast and crew will also be filming in Carlstadt, NJ, United States from now to sometime this spring, along with filming also set to take place in the iconic location of Atlanta, GA, United States.
The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne is expected to be released sometime in 2024 to stream exclusively on AMC Plus.
