Now that the 80th annual Golden Globes have officially wrapped and the winners have been announced, I have to take the time to appreciate one win and nomination that came as a surprise to many MCU fans. Angela Bassett won Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes for the 2022 MCU movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The MCU has made incredible history and the question remains: Will Bassett win an Oscar for her role as Queen Ramonda in Marvel’s latest cinematic venture into the fantasy world of Wakanda?
Bassett was incredibly grateful for her award and her team as she detailed in her speech.
The actress did not forget to respectfully pay a nod to the original Black Panther Chadwick Boseman as she said, “We mourned, we loved, we healed and we were surrounded each and every day by the light and the spirit of Chadwick Boseman and we have joy in knowing that with this historic Black Panther series, it is a part of his legacy that he helped to lead us to.”

Her moving speech brought deafening silence and commanded the crowd as she accepted her trophy with honour and grace, and since she is now a front-runner for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars, it seems that she would fit the bill to win that trophy, as well.
Good luck Angela Bassett and thank you for your work.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to debut on Disney Plus on February 1st, 2023.
