Anson Mount provided an update recently as to if Marvel fans can expect to see him return as the ruler of Attilan and king of the Inhumans, Black Bolt.
Mount first portrayed the live-action Marvel Comics character Blackagar Boltagon aka Black Bolt in Marvel’s Inhumans series back in 2017.
He then reprised his role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as what seemed to be a variant living in an MCU-adjacent universe.
It has been long speculated since the Doctor Strange sequel’s release in 2022 that Mount’s cameo may have been an allude to future appearances.
However, there has since been any official announcement as to the return of Mount’s Black Bolt or even the official MCU introduction of the Inhumans.
Will Black Bolt Be Returning?
While talking to Radio Times about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Mount was asked if he has had any offers to return as Black Bolt in the future.
Mount started by stating that if his “answer was yes” then he “wouldn’t be able to tell” anybody due to the extreme secrecy over at Marvel Studios.

He continued by stating that the “answer is no” to receiving any offers to return as Marvel’s Black Bolt, meaning that he “can” talk about it.
One thing’s for sure, the Black Bolt variant from the universe seen during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness won’t be making any comebacks any day soon, but that doesn’t rule out other variants.
Talks Have Been Had About Black Bolt’s Return
Despite not being offered anything official in regard to returning to the Marvel world to play Black Bolt once again, the Inhumans star did reveal that he has had some “informal conversations with the powers at Marvel”.
“Powers” most likely being a reference to Kevin Feige and the bosses over at Marvel Studios who run the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mount didn’t just confirm that conversations have been had, he also seemingly revealed that it is still “a conversation, but they’ve got their current phase that they need to do.”
Anson Mount Would Love To Return
During the same discussion with Radio Times, Mount added that he would still “love” to return and play Black Bolt in the live-action Marvel universe.
He said: “I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.”

Although there have been no official talks with the actor or announcements from Marvel Studios, it seems that Black Bolt is still on everybody’s mind.
Not to mention the fact that Marvel’s Inhumans will need to be introduced into the wider MCU eventually, besides their past attempt as a TV series adaptation prior to being cancelled after one season.
The Inhumans are a great set of characters from Marvel Comics and would in turn be a great source of live-action entertainment with good direction.
