WARNING: Although the images of Antony Starr in this article are fictionalised, with the visuals of the blood being that of fake blood used in Film and TV, be aware that it still may seem realistic and graphic.
Antony Starr has teased that his The Boys character, Homelander, may be getting a repeated storyline in Season 4 of the popular Amazon Prime Video series based on the popular comic book series, with new images of Starr’s face covered in fake blood.
The images were posted by Starr to his Instagram account today, revealing Starr behind-the-scenes on The Boys‘ fourth season, with fake blood all in his hair and on his face, in an almost identical pattern to that of Homelander in the second season’s finale.
Starr captioned the Instagram post with “Question : does history repeat? (If so, why?)”, to which the official Instagram account for The Boys responded, in their typical Karl Urban-Billy Butcher form, “Most normal pics coming out of S4, lad”.
The caption mixed with the response from The Boys social team confirmed that these new images are indeed new BTS looks from the fourth season of the series, hinting at another Homelander-blood bath scene being filmed for the show’s next instalment.
It could be possible that Starr has filmed flashback scenes of the second season’s finale that will be included in season 4, or that Homelander will lose the plot yet again, with fans already speculating that this could be a tease of a significant death heading to the series.
Some fans have even theorized that Giancarlo Esposito’s Stan Edgar may be the next big character to be leaving the show, brutally, by the hands of Starr’s Homelander, as the two characters haven’t exactly seen eye-to-eye in recent episodes.
The Boys Season 4 is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video sometime in late 2023 or early 2024.
