As of writing this article, Ben Schwartz’s Renfield character, Teddy Lobo, has yet to be officially revealed, besides from an extremely blurred shot in the official trailer that may go unnoticed by the naked eye.
Exclusive: Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog, Parks and Recreation) is officially playing a character called Teddy Lobo in the 2023 vampire comedy Renfield, however, Schwartz’s character has yet to officially be revealed, leaving fans eagerly waiting to get their first look. Universal Pictures’ Renfield is currently set to release in theatres on the 14th of April, 2023, starring Nicolas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, The Menu) as the titular character with Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, National Treasure) as Dracula and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as Rebecca Quincy.
Schwartz’s Renfield character does make a brief appearance during the official trailer [1:25], although the seconds of footage is extremely blurred, most likely being missed by fans while watching the film’s preview. Teddy Lobo, played by Ben Schwartz, is described as being a mob enforcer in Renfield who will work alongside Nicolas Cage’s Dracula. Schwartz’s Teddy Lobo will also most likely be playing a vampire himself, with a menacing and villainous dress sense, rocking slick back hair, tattoos, and a dark duffle coat. Exclusive Details On Ben Schwartz’s Teddy Lobo
CoveredGeekly has received inside information from an anonymous and verified source, who will go unnamed, as to how Ben Schwartz will look in the 2023 Renfield movie, from top to bottom, Schwartz’s Teddy Lobo certainly means business.
When pausing on Schwartz’s blurry frame during the trailer, it may be noticed that he is rocking slicked-back hair with what appears to be a dark coat with a collar that sticks up, which would be accurate. However, some details of Teddy Lobo’s appearance are completely impossible to make out due to the limited view of Schwartz’s character.
We can confirm that Schwartz’s Teddy Lobo will indeed have slicked-back hair in Renfield, along with a black duffle coat complemented with a red collar, that will be sticking up, most likely to represent a modern vampire’s cloak. Schwartz will also be covered in tattoos, from his neck to his chest along with arm and hand tattoos.
Schwartz will also be wearing a red flannel shirt with a deep V-neck black t-shirt underneath, showing off his chest tattoos in the process. The trousers are also black in nature with the deep V-neck black t-shirt being tucked in with a black belt keeping it all together, which all makes up for a perfectly modern take on a menacing vampire.
This new look for Schwartz is by far completely different from his usual live-action roles and will come as a treat to many fans of both the actor and the vampire genre.

Renfield will star Nicolas Hoult as the titular character who appears to want to escape Dracula’s clutches of evil, with Dracula being played by Nicolas Cage. Awkwafina will co-star alongside Hoult, with both characters working together to take down Dracula and his loyal subjects, one of which will be Ben Schwartz’s Teddy Lobo.
