The Beverly Hills Cop franchise is a series of action comedy films starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, a street-smart Detroit cop who often clashes with the authorities in Beverly Hills, California.
The first film, which was released in 1984, followed Foley as he investigated the murder of his friend and uncovered a drug smuggling operation. The second film, released in 1987, featured Foley returning to Beverly Hills to help his friends solve a series of robberies.

The Return of Axel Foley
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley features several returning and new cast members, and Jerry Bruckheimer returns to produce the film. Speaking with Empire Magazine for their 2024 preview issue, he had high praise for Eddie Murphy’s performance in the movie:
“Anytime he walks on set, you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always pretty brilliant, every day he’s there throws you back to the ‘80s.”

The first still from the movie features Murphy’s character emerging from a car wreck, and confronting LAPD officers at the scene. More context regarding this scene is yet to be known.
Taylour Paige has been confirmed to be portraying Foley’s daughter, a criminal defence attorney who pulls him into a case based in California. Kevin Bacon plays an LAPD special-unit officer, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Foley’s new partner.
“He gets stuck with Axel and they are hysterical together,” Bruckheimer says. “Joseph is such a great straight man for Eddie.” “It’s about the emotion,” he noted. “No matter how funny it is, how much great action it has, it’s all about the heartstrings.”
Axel Foley makes a comeback to Beverly Hills to investigate the demise of a close friend and police corruption within the department.
During his return, he reconnects with his daughter and teams up with her ex-boyfriend, a rule-abiding police officer involved in the investigation.
