Blur have announced a new album entitled The Ballad of Darren, making this the first full album the band has released in eight years, alongside dropping a new single “The Narcissist”. You can listen to the new track and watch the announcement video below.
The Britpop band also played their first live show for the first time in eight years Friday, May 19, in their hometown of Colchester, as a warm up for their upcoming concert dates.
Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright, who is a long time Blur fan, was also amongst the small venue’s crowd, as he took to Instagram to post various videos and images from the live show. “Oh boy. @blurofficial’s first gig in 8 years and the warm up their summer tour in their hometown at @colchartscentre. What a blast.”
Songs played by the band during their first live show in almost a decade included some iconic tracks such as “Song 2”, “Girls & Boys”, and “Parklife”, among others, including two new songs from their upcoming album.
