According to Variety‘s sources, Nope star Brandon Perea has been cast in the upcoming sequel to Twister (1996).
Twisters will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung(Minari, Lucky Life) and written by Mark L. Smith(The Revenant, The Midnight Sky). The film is produced by Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley, from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. It is co-financed by Warner Bros.
Brandon Perea joins Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos; who were previously confirmed to be starring in the sequel.
Plot details and Perea’s role in the film are currently under wraps.
About ‘Twister’ (1996)
The original Twister was helmed by director Jan De Bont(Speed, Speed 2: Cruise Control) and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, with a screenplay by author Michael Crichton. It starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton.
The film followed a team of storm chasers who went after the most powerful tornado in decades. It was a massive hit at the box office, earning more than $494 million globally on an $88–92 million budget.
Twisters is described as a “new chapter” of the 1996 original. It is set to release in theaters on July 19, 2024.
