Prime Video will reportedly be adding a key J. R. R. Tolkien character from Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2.
According to the popular and well-known news source for all things Tolkien, Fellowship of Fans, Celeborn will be joining the show’s roster.
The Lord of Lothlórien and Galadriel’s husband Celeborn will reportedly be played by the already confirmed season 2 cast member Calam Lynch.

Celeborn was previously played by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy alongside Cate Blanchett’s original Galadriel.
If the rumoured casting is true, Lynch will be starring as the much younger Celeborn due to Rings of Power being set thousands of years before the original Tolkien novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Calam Lynch’s Celeborn Rumoured Details
It is said by Fellowship of Fans that Lynch performed a chemistry screen test alongside Clark with both being in character as Celeborn and Galadriel.
This alone would indicate that the two will be expected to be acting out a fair amount of screen time together, which makes sense due to the two Tolkien characters being husband and wife.

Lynch is said to have been in full “Celeborn costume and outfit” during his chemistry tests with Clark, with the costume being described as being “silver, dark blue and gold”.
Will Celebrían Be In The Rings of Power?
One interesting theory that this further fuels is that The Rings of Power is also set to one day introduce Galadriel and Celeborn’s daughter Celebrían.
Celebrían has plenty of rich history in Tolkien’s Middle-earth, she is most famously known for being the wife of Elrond and mother of their children.
Elrond and Celebrían’s children are Elladan and Elrohir, and Arwen with Arwen who was played by Liv Tyler in Jackson’s movie trilogy.

Arwen also later ended up falling in love and marrying the iconic Dúnedain Aragorn II Elessar who was played by Viggo Mortensen in Jackson’s movies.
Aragorn and Arwen won’t be making an appearance due to not being born yet, however, Celebrían just might see the light of day yet.
Even if Celebrían doesn’t make it into the second season of The Rings of Power, it’s potentially where the series is headed due to both of her parents being set up to be two of the show’s primary protagonists.
Celeborn’s Presence During Season One
Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel has already talked about Celeborn during the events seen so far in Prime Video’s The Rings of Power series.
Galadriel spoke of her husband during the first season while confirming that she has not seen him for centuries, at least since the wars of the First Age.
This reveal was highly expected to be a foreshadowing of Celeborn’s arrival in a future instalment of the series with season two being the most likely.
Amazon Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2024.
