The Marvel multiverse is here and isn’t going to stop yet, with Doctor Strange 2 leading the next step in this mad phase. With legacy Marvel actors reprising roles in movies like Spider-Man No Way Home, who’s to tell what else is up to their sleeves?
Still, we have gathered a list of rumoured characters to show up in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Let’s have a look at the rumoured characters set to star in Doctor Strange 2. These rumours come from sources with a similar pattern to the No Way Home leaks. Plus, many of these rumours were deemed true when the Doctor Strange 2 trailer was released.
Balder the Brave in Doctor Strange 2
Possible spoilers… you’ve been warned. In a likely true, recent leak… Balder the Brave was mentioned as one of the characters to join the MCU. We won’t be diving into the plot details in this spread BUT we will say that Marvel’s Illuminati is supposedly making an appearance.
Plus Balder the Brave isn’t just an Asgardian… he is also Thor’s brother… yep! Balder the Brave would be an excellent addition to the multiverse and ever-expanding Marvel/Norse MCU mythology.
Evil Wanda Variant
Variants, variants, and more variants. Judging by the reports, Doctor Strange 2 is going to have more MCU multiverse variants than Loki and No Way Home combined.
“Evil” Wanda, similar to the Wanda from What If?…, has been reported by multiple sources to be playing a huge role in Multiverse of Madness. She is also rumoured to take on various characters and play a huge part in the final battle.
Eric Bana’s Bruce Banner
This is one of the strangest, but also strangely plausible “leaks”. Nonetheless, Eric Bana has reportedly signed on for the flick to reprise his role as Bruce Banner. Sadly, or thankfully for some of you, he won’t be donning the green exterior of his angry counterpart during the movie.
However, if reports are true, and let’s face it… they usually are these days, Eric Bana will have a cameo as Bruce from another universe.
Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans
An interesting report is that we will be treated to a scene featuring the leader of the Inhumans, Black Bolt. I could go on and on about the Inhuman’s comic history plus how they have not been served justice AT ALL (yet).
It looks like Marvel wants to make up for their past, and give the Inhumans what they deserve; some MCU screen time. If you would like to read up more on Black Bolt, check out his Marvel Wiki page here.
Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier
One of my favourite leaks is that Professor X will appear in the movie. In 2021, leaked concept art of Professor X meeting Strange and fighting Wanda was released. The alleged art from Marvel shows Strange wearing green shiny handcuffs deemed as fake, which he can be seen wearing during the trailer nonetheless.
It doesn’t just stop with concept art, leaked plot leaks also match the concept art and shots from the trailer… so getting excited yet?
Tom Cruise To Join As Iron Man?
Did you know that Tom Cruise was originally set to play Iron Man back in 2008? If you did, then you know why this would make perfect sense for Strange 2.
It would play perfect homage to the fan-filled forums discussing a “what if” scenario of Tom Cruise getting the role instead of RDJ. We will finally get to see a small dose of Cruise’s take on Stark! Don’t tell me you wouldn’t want to see that plus Tom Cruise in the MCU!
Peggy Carter Variant
Probably one of the most likely reports is that a variant, Peggy Carter, will be making an appearance. This makes sense judging by the events of What If?… Season 1.
Plus the reports state that she will indeed be playing her What If?… counterpart, aka the female Captain America. Marvel has also stated that What If?… on Disney+ is canon to the MCU. With that in mind, anything is possible.
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man… AGAIN!
Is Tobey Maguire coming back as Spider-Man?! Oh wait he is already “back”, isn’t he? There have been some reports that Tobey Maguire has filmed a scene for Strange 2 which sounds nuts. However, I do believe that this could be true due to No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2 being connected and filmed closely together.
There aren’t too many details on his involvement however judging by all the crazy No Way Home news that everyone passed off as fake… enough said.
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine (Variant)
Finally, we have Hugh Jackman returning to play Wolverine! Recent reports have surfaced that an unknown legacy Fox Marvel actor will be reprising an old role for Strange 2! However, as awesome as this would be, take it with a pinch of salt. These are all essentially just rumours… but if 2021 was anything to go by… these rumours might just be true.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness will be released in mid-2022. So all we have to do is wait until then and keep our fingers crossed, thanks for reading guys!
