Only a few days after the report that Owen Wilson was in talks to join Tom Hardy in Sony’s Venom 3, new information has now emerged online that both Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange) and Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows, Legion) are also setting their eyes for the third Venom instalment set somewhere in the Sony Spider-Man universe.
This newly reported information comes from the well-known industry scooper Daniel Richtman and was shared on Twitter by an account known as @MStudiosNews, with a caption that reads “DanielRPK: Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jemaine Clement are in talks to join Venom 3”.
It has yet to be confirmed or announced by the cast and crew of the third Venom instalment as to whether or not this information is true, however, the report only states that the two actors are in talks, with Owen Wilson already reportedly passing up the opportunity to join as per another recent post via the industry scooper’s Patreon, which could imply that Ejiofor and Clement could also pass it up.
Venom 3 is set to begin filming this summer, with the casting and plot details being kept tightly under wraps, it’s safe to assume that the threequel has plans to further explore the Spider-Man side of things after Hardy’s appearance during the post-credit scene in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Venom 3 is expected to release sometime in 2024.
