Comedian and former SNL cast member Leslie Jones, who is also a close friend of Chris Rock, says that he and his whole family were affected by his now worldwide known ‘Oscars slap’ incident that happened in 2022.
While talking to People, Jones revealed that Rock being slapped by actor Will Smith live at the Oscars “really affected him. People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counselling with his daughters.”
Leslie Jones Was Mad About the Oscars Slap Incident
Jones also told People that she was mad “for a long a** time (…) Chris Rock did a fu**ing joke. I know Will, too… I was like, you couldn’t handle that sh*t afterwards. This is the Oscars. The whole world is watching.”
She continued to reveal that she told Rock afterwards that he should have just run away: “I was like, ‘Chris, when he got up why didn’t you run?’ I would’ve been running around that stage like, ‘Will, calm down. Jada, call your man!’”
She added that she was grateful that Rock got the chance to talk about it all to his audience on a larger stage: “Everybody got pi**ed off about him doing a special. That’s what comedians do. Instead of us going crazy we fu**ing go talk about it on the fu**ing stage. Thank god we’ve got the stage.”
