Chris Rock went all in during his live Netflix special Selective Outrage when touching on the controversy behind the Will Smith Oscars slap incident, where Smith was seen on live television slapping Rock in the face due to Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, being the centre of a couple of Rock’s jokes during his monologue at the award ceremony.
However, while onstage at the 24th Mark Twain Prize for American Humour just yesterday on March 19, Rock shared one joke that never quite made it into his live comedy special’s section, on the whole, Will Smith slapping incident.
“Paul Pelosi (is) the only guy who knows how I felt” is what Rock revealed to be the joke cut from the live Netflix special, jokingly comparing his slap from Will Smith to the 2022 attack where a man bludgeoned Paul Pelosi’s skull with a hammer, which Pelosi is still recovering from due to a skull fracture and injuries to his right arms and hands as of CNN’s latest update via Paul Pelosi’s wife, Nancy Pelosi.
Rock also added an additional “Just me and you, Paul.”, in continuing reference to the Will Smith slapping incident comparison to Paul Pelosi’s attack.
It has been speculated that Rock’s new comments could be a sarcastic take on the fact that the Will Smith slapping incident was far more covered across the internet than say the attack on Paul Pelosi.
The recorded event is set to air nationally on Sunday 26 March at 8 pm EST on CNN.
