It’s that time of year again when we all are keeping busy with things like Christmas and New Year, which makes it difficult for some of us to keep up with all news from the pop culture scene.
Well, luckily for you, we are still staying true to our promise that we will publish an edition of CoveredWeekly every Sunday; so let’s get into it. We’re going to be testing a new format in this week’s instalment, so do let us know if you prefer the bullet point list we used in the previous two issues.

Besides us being busy with Christmas, we started our day off by sharing the news that the popular Netflix series ‘HEARTSTOPPER‘ will be releasing the second season in 2023; officially.
Doctor Who then decided to do something for Christmas, which the show hasn’t done for quite a few years now. However, instead of a Christmas special, fans of the show were treated to a trailer for the 2023 60th anniversary.
Which did not disappoint, many fans online stated that they could notice an improvement in the trailer alone, raising the hope that the special will be something to watch next year.
Monday, December 26th, 2022
News on Hugh Jackman talking all things Deadpool 3 set the beginning of the week off on the internet, with confirmation from Jackman that Wolverine and Deadpool will indeed “hate” each other.
Diving into the Horror genre next, Scream 6 dropped a completely new poster for the film, reminding fans of the franchise that it is coming out 10th of March this year.
Meanwhile, Netflix dropped their new crime thriller series Treason, which stars Charlie Cox as the lead character.
Avatar then took the stage of the web with confirmation that the sequel had officially hit over 900 million US dollars at the global box office, which is such an accomplishment in terms of financial success. Especially when you think about how long it has been since the first film was released, big congratulations from us at CoveredGeekly to the team!
Confirmation of how long the first episode of ‘The Last Of Us’ will be was also another contribution to the day, with news that the premiere will be one hour and 25 minutes long.

Glass Onion started their day by dropping a brand new poster for the ‘Knives Out’ sequel, featuring a puzzled Mona Lisa, which makes complete sense if you’ve seen the movie which is now streaming on Netflix.
Teams behind the Marvel Studios film ‘Wakanda Forever’ revealed that an alternative ending was originally planned for the ending, but was ultimately cut when it came down to it, see all the details inside.
Disney Walt Studios revealed a new opening sequence to celebrate its 100th anniversary, with a caption that states “100 years of wonder” at the end of the intro.

Some MCU rumours made it online on the 27th, with potential news that director Chloe Zhao will not be returning to direct the sequel to Marvel Studios’ first Eternals film.

With no surprise here, Avatar: The Way Of Water officially crossed one billion US dollars at the global box office, pushing itself into the top 25 highest-grossing movies of all time.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw from the ‘LOKI’ series by Marvel Studios on Disney Plus revealed some new details about the second season, confirming that animals would be a large part of at least one scene, read here.
A new poster for the character ‘Tech’ was released from the Star Wars animated series ‘The Bad Batch’, with the new season hitting Disney Plus this January 4th.

Marvel seemingly confirmed the 2023 slate of movies and tv shows coming out from the MCU but quickly deleted their announcement, you can read all about it inside.
The first official look at the cut ‘Balder the Brave’ cameo from ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was released online, which was rumoured to have been played by Daniel Craig.
Rian Johnson confirmed with Wired that he has started writing the next ‘Knives Out’ sequel already, which should come as great news to those who loved the latest instalment.
