Actor David Corenswet has reportedly been chosen to play the next live-action Clark Kent aka Superman in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
Corenswet recently went through a series of screen tests as both Clark Kent and Superman alongside Emma Mackey who tested for Lois Lane.
Battling for the titular role next to Corenswet included X-Men star Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney (Grantchester) with Corwenswet reportedly winning the gig according to sources over at The Wrap.
Despite Mackey testing alongside Corenswet recently, The Wrap also reported that fellow runner-up Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane.
Henry Cavill’s torch will now officially be passed to Corenswet as he is set to star alongside Brosnahan to kick start the newly planned DC Universe.
Lex Luthor will most likely be next on Gunn’s list of characters to get somebody attached for the role, with Hoult potentially now set to aim for that due to losing out on the titular role.
Now that the movie’s main two stars have been cast it’s safe to assume that plenty of new casting announcements will be coming soon from Gunn along with some new potential Superman: Legacy character reveals.
James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy releases on July 11, 2025.
