It’s official, David Tennant will be reprising his iconic role as the Doctor for the 60th anniversary special in 2023. He is even bringing his famous companion Donna, played by the one and only Catherine Tate of course. The news was dropped by ex and now-present Whovian showrunner, Russell T Davies himself.
Davies took to social media to say the following:
THEY’RE BACK! The Doctor and Donna! But… how?! He wiped her memory! If she remembers, she’ll die! But, but… is it a flashback? A dream sequence? A lie? A fantasy? A parallel universe?! Alt Doctor? The Land of Fiction?! You’ll find out in 2023 as Doctor Who hits its 60th – diamond! – anniversary!
Russell T Davies
Quite the big announcement if you ask any Whovian out there, with rumors of other past characters in the mix to return also. The 60th anniversary has been the talk of the town in the Doctor Who fan community as of late. All sorts of theories and rumors circulating the web as to what could be happening for the big special.
Ncuti Gatwa Confirmed To Play The Next Doctor
This huge announcement comes only days after the big reveal that Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa has landed in the front seat of the tardis.
With Russell T Davies back at the helm along with both hilarious and brilliant Ncuti Gatwa, only good things must follow. Doctor Who has faced some backlash on its lack of story these past few years, but the fans keep it alive with hopes of what it can still be.
If you think about it, Doctor Who has already gone through a rough patch in the past but comes back stronger than ever.
