James Gunn has officially placed Andy Muschietti in the director’s chair to helm the DCU’s first Batman movie The Brave and the Bold. Similar to Marvel Studios, Gunn and Peter Safran have drafted up a list of slated titles with Muschietti’s Batman movie being one of them.
Muschietti’s current contribution to the DC world The Flash, starring Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton, was the main reason for his hiring. The It director not only directed a DC movie that has gained positive reviews all around. He directed multiple Batman actors as seen in promos for The Flash with Michael Keaton returning as Batman alongside Ben Affleck’s version.
The Batman movie itself is based on the original Grant Morrison comic series that tells the tale of the Bat-family. Bruce Waye’s biological son Damian will be shown as Batman’s sidekick Robin aka one of the most iconic duos from the DC world.

Barbara Muschietti, sister to Andy Muschietti, will be producing the project via Double Dream, their production label, alongside Gunn and Safran.
On top of this, the duo will also be working on a collection of first-look deals for Warner Bros. Details of a 3-year deal that will involve them developing large-scale feature projects, with the potential of Andy Muschietti directing, were shared.
Their current tv project is the It spinoff series Welcome to Derry.
The Brave and the Bold is expected to release sometime in 2025.
