Deep Water star Jacob Elordi has revealed that he turned down the role of Clark Kent in an unnamed superhero project.
The actor gained international recognition for playing Noah Flynn, the main character’s love interest, in The Kissing Booth in 2018. The film was a huge hit on Netflix and spawned two sequels, The Kissing Booth 2 and The Kissing Booth 3.
He also starred as Nate Jacobs, a troubled and violent teenager, in Euphoria, a critically acclaimed HBO Max series, in 2019. He received overwhelming praise for his performance and won several awards, including the GQ Men of the Year Award for TV Actor of the Year in 2020.

Jacob Elordi Turned Down Superman Role
Speaking with GQ for their cover story, Elordi revealed that he was offered the role of Superman for an unmentioned project, but he declined it and deemed it “too dark”.

“They asked me to read for Superman. That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.”
While the actor didn’t mention a title for the movie which he declined the role for, we can safely assume he was referring to James Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy film, which underwent screen tests earlier this year.
When asked if he could see himself in a superhero film, he replied in the negative.
“Not particularly, no. I’ve always been told to say a rounded answer or my agent will get mad at me. ‘Anything can happen!’ ”

He continued to state that he doesn’t see himself having “any interest” in portraying a superhero and that he gets “very restless” while watching superhero movies.
“And obviously anything can happen, but at this stage in my life, I don’t see myself having any interest in that. I like to make what I would watch, and I get very restless watching those movies.”
He joked once more about his agent “scripting” his responses:
“And then I’m supposed to finish it with: ‘Never say never!’ ”

Superman Legacy was recently confirmed to be making its originally planned release date of July 11, 2025, even after other franchises (cough; Marvel) had movies delayed by over a year due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
