Deep Silver Dambuster Studios’ Dead Island 2 has officially surpassed over one million units sold during its launch weekend alone, an exceptionally impressive player count so far as the game has only been out for three days as of writing this article, with the studio also releasing general player statistics such as total hours played and zombies taking down since the game launched to its various platforms.
See below for all the new statistics shared by Deep Silver:
- 11 million total hours played
- 28 million total number of player deaths (over twice the population of Los Angeles)
- 45 million zombies sliced in half
- 756 million zombie limbs hacked off
- 1.1 billion total number of zombies slayed
The sequel to the 2011 Dead Island game, besides the additional chapter entitled Dead Island: Riptide, has been one of the highest awaited games in gaming history, with its original announcement being all the way back in 2014, making this release almost ten years in the making.
It’s safe to say that plenty of fans, both old and new, put aside any grievances on the various delays with now over one million players digging their way into the open world RPG that is Los Angeles – aka Hell-A, with hopeful potential that the studio will be able to announce another instalment sometime in the near future – except, maybe this time, without the decade-long wait post its announcement.
Dead Island 2 is now out and available to purchase on platforms PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC via Epic Games Store.
