Doja Cat’s latest single “Paint the Town Red” becomes the fastest solo female rap song to reach 100 million streams on Spotify and receive over 6 million streams in a single day.
For her highly anticipated fourth studio album, a trailer for Doja Cat’s newest single “Demons” premiered yesterday, a thriller-style teaser emphasizing her more sinister alter ego ‘Scarlet’.
The narrator of the trailers tells us the video comes from the ‘twisted minds of Doja Cat and Christian Breslauer’, whilst also starring Christina Ricci.
“Demons” releases on Friday the 1st of September.
Doja Cat’s new album “Scarlet” will be released on September 22nd.
The cover for the upcoming album appears to use an altered version of artwork used by metal band CHAVER, who is also releasing a new album on the 22nd of September.
Both covers are made by the artist Dusty Ray.
Doja Cat’s Controversial Fan Situation
Over the years Doja hasn’t shied away from controversy; recently causing fans to question her appreciation and love for them.
This backlash came from her fan base after she disapproved of the unofficial fan-community name ‘kittenz’.
In since-deleted Thread posts, she commented how if her fans use this name, they ’need to get off [their] phone and help [their] parents with the house.’
In targeting her fans, she lost over 600,00 followers on Instagram and added to an already long list of controversies.
In recent months alone she has been accused of being a Satanist and selling her soul to the devil.
Her new style, appearance and seemingly new personality surround a new era for the singer, a dark and gruesome side that fans aren’t too keen on.
Scarlet seems not only to be the title of the upcoming album but also the wicked character that Doja is promoting for her new American tour: The Scarlet Tour.
