Warner Bros. treated this year’s CinemaCon 2023 audience to an official look at Dune: Part Two, revealing a brand new trailer during their panel presentation for the Dune sequel that may be one of the most anticipated non-superhero movies of the year.
The first trailer shown at the event offered the audience a first look at both Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan Corrino along with Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, see the full trailer description below to read up on what was shown during tonight’s panel.
Dune 2’s First Trailer Description
During the Warner Bros. panel at the 2023 CinemaCon, the first footage was exclusively shown, revealing shots of Florence Pugh for the first time as Princess Irulan with footage of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides riding a giant sandworm in the Arrakis desert, an iconic Dune moment that many fans will be excited to see. The sandworm was revealed during the panel by Chalamet to be completely practical.
Chalamet’s Paul and Zendaya’s Chani are seen in the trailer talking about swimming while they are in the sand dunes, with Paul asking Chani to conjure up an image of water in her mind, telling Chani the following: “It’s breathtaking, just imagine water.”
Rebecca Ferguson’s Lady Jessica is shown shortly after this moment, later revealing that Pugh’s Princess Irulan is part of the political game with Pugh talking about secrets that lie within Arrakis still: “In the shadow of Arrakis lies many secrets, but the darkness to all of that is what remains. What if Paul Atreides was still alive?”
Austin Butler (Elvis) then debuts as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, donning quite a unique look on his face, and shown to be completely bald with extremely pale skin. Javier Bardem also returns, who played Stilgar in the first movie, and is seen to have a look of shock in scenes showing his character in black and white.
Zendaya’s Chani is later seen kissing Chalamet’s Paul, telling him “You will never lose me, Paul Atreides.”, said just before footage of Chalamet and Butler battling one another with their knives, just after the following is said “We gave them something to hope for”.
Dune 2 will begin immediately after the ending of the first movie Dune, as revealed during the CinemaCon 2023 Warner Bros. Panel, the trailer is not expected to be released publicly for quite some time.
Dune 2 comes to theatres on November 3, 2023.
