Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon took to X/Twitter to seemingly tease that the official Reptile Mortal Kombat 1 reveal will be coming to EVO 2023.
This reveal has been both long anticipated and expected to be coming during the EVO 2023 tournament, with a new trailer for the upcoming game also expected.
Boon first took to X/Twitter to post an image of a restaurant along with the caption “The secret ninja Reptile was born here, 31 years ago.”
An innocent enough social post at first, until he later posted the same image again with a new caption: “What does this restaurant have in common with EVO?”
The two tweets are potentially subtle clues that Reptile’s long-awaited Mortal Kombat 1 reveal will make its debut during the fighting game tournament, EVO.
When To Expect Reptile’s Reveal
If Boon’s social posts are indeed teasing an upcoming Reptile reveal, the safest best to expect it to happen would be during today’s EVO 2023 final (August 4th).
Recent reports online have suggested that General Shao and Reiko will also be revealed, during a “Great Legion” trailer that fans hope to drop during EVO 2023.
Boon is famously known in the gaming world to be extremely cryptic when it comes to teasing upcoming announcements for his Mortal Kombat series.
So it’s safe to assume that these Reptile and EVO-related social posts are indeed connected and that the reveal trailer should be coming as soon as August 4th.
NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 releases on September 14, 2023: PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows.
