Robert Pattinson is joining forces with Smile director Parker Finn to remake a cult classic from the 1980s.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is a reimagining of the 1981 psychological horror film Possession, which will star Robert Pattinson in the lead role with Finn in the director's chair.
Additional cast details and plot information are currently being kept tightly under wraps.

Finn and Pattinson will also serve as producers via their respective production companies, Icki Eneo Arlo and Bad Feeling.
The remake project is currently in its early stages, but it has already sparked a bidding war among major studios, including A24, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros.
This is not Pattinson's first foray into horror.
The actor previously starred in the critically acclaimed 2019 film The Lighthouse, a psychological thriller set on a remote island.
Possession is a different beast altogether, known for its surreal imagery and nightmarish atmosphere.
Helmed by Andrzej Żuławski, the original movie revolves around Sam Neill's character, a spy who comes back to discover his wife, portrayed by Isabelle Adjani, seeking a divorce and behaving oddly.
As he delves into her mysterious actions, he uncovers her disturbing and startling secrets.

Although Possession did not become a box office hit upon its initial release, it has since achieved cult classic status.
Robert Pattinson's Possession remake doesn't yet have a release window.
