After filming for 131 days, Marvel Studios’ Agatha: Coven of Chaos has wrapped filming. The series began principal photography on January 17th, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia, and ended on May 27. Right after celebrations for the production wrap ended, new plot details about the series have been revealed.
Insider Daniel Richtman shared a new synopsis for Coven of Chaos on Patreon, which you can read below. Note that the synopsis has been translated from Portuguese, and has not been confirmed by any official sources.
“After a mysterious boy wakes her from the spell and asks her for help, Agatha Harkness forms a coven with the women of Westview to enter the Witches’ Road, a place where wishes can come true. This is where the boy can get what he wants, and so can Agatha. But to get your wish, you must pass a series of dangerous tests. A group of powerful witches known as the Salem Seven come to Westview to seek revenge against Agatha and follow her coven into the Witches’ Road.”

Marvel’s Salem Seven
In Marvel comics, Salem’s Seven were a group of magic users who shared the same father Nicholas Scratch (son of Agatha Harkness), and lived in New Salem. The members of Salem’s Seven were Vertigo, Brutacus, Gazelle, Reptilla, Hydron, and Thornn. They were the grandchildren of Agatha, and were influenced by Nicholas Scratch to go against her.
Over the course of several years, Salem’s Seven utilized powers to strip Harkness of her powers. They managed to turn the New Salem Community against Harkness, establishing themselves as the most powerful sorcerers in the community.
Vertigo, the oldest of Harkness’s granddaughters and the leader of Salem’s Seven, ascended to the position of high priestess (queen) of the New Salem community. Eventually, Salem’s Seven captured the weakened Harkness and executed her by burning her at the stake.
Since Nicholas Scratch hasn’t been introduced in the MCU yet (unless Señor Scratchy turns out to be Agatha’s son), it seems apparent that the MCU won’t be adapting them in that manner. You can read more about the Salem Seven here.
The Witches’ Road
The synopsis seems to indicate the Witches’ Road will be heavily featured in the series. In the comics, the Witches’ Road was an alternate plane of existence that only sorcerers could access. Twitter scooper Can We Get Some Toast shared an image of Wanda traversing the Witches’ Road, leading to online speculation regarding her involvement in Coven of Chaos.
Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus claimed they heard about Wanda being at The Witches’ Road after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well.
Although plot details for the series are still under wraps, it is safe to say we will get a hint about Wanda’s fate in this series.
