Michael Gandolfini was initially confirmed to be playing a major role opposite Charlie Cox‘s Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Daredevil: Born Again late last year.
The cast list for the series is comprised of Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Sandrine Holt, and Margarita Levieva, with more casting announcements still expected to be revealed prior to its 2024 exclusive Disney Plus release.
Our first look at Gandolfini filming the 18-episode series has been shared by Steve Sands, which features the actor stepping out of a cab and leaning against the side of it. You can view the images below:
Speaking with ET, Gandolfini revealed that he felt very “giddy”, and “honored” to be a part of this series.
“I’m very giddy about it, and very excited. I’m counting the days until we start, and I’m honored to be a part of it. We get to shoot in New York, and people are going to be really happy to see these characters that we previously saw in the Netflix series in the MCU.”Michael Gandolfini
In an interview with Collider, the Beau Is Afraid star said that he “teared up” after receiving his first text from the producer of the series (likely Kevin Feige):
“I mean, it’s incredible. It’s so, so exciting and daunting and everyone is so nice and so talented. I remember getting my first text from the producer, I was driving, and it said, ‘Welcome to the MCU!’ You see that and it just, like, hits you, you know? I teared up, and it’s just like, ‘Oh my God!’ I’m very grateful and lucky.”Michael Gandolfini
