The first official teaser for Mortal Kombat 12 has been released online via the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account, with the teaser being both short and extremely cryptic, it’s safe to say that the studio is keeping extremely tight-lipped when it comes to the Mortal Kombat 11 and Aftermath sequel.
The last addition to the brutal game series, and the eleventh instalment in the game franchise, was released back in 2019, four years ago as the first teaser for its sequel being released. A few shots of cinematic footage featuring what appear to be grains of sand are shown during the teaser, potentially hinting that the sand of time will still have a major part to play in the story, with one grain exploding with a similar sound effect to Kronika’s spherical time device seen in Mortal Kombat 11.
Despite which ending of Mortal Kombat 11 the sequel will be canonically following unless the developers offer a multiple choice scenario as seen during the final moments of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, this new teaser seems to be teasing that the story will indeed be continuing on with the time-altering events from its predecessor, however, it is unclear if the new instalment will begin where Liu Kang left off or if the two alternative endings seen in Aftermath will have some part to play, which may be unlikely.
