Being a bloody, no-holds-barred spin-off, Prime Video’s Gen V has certainly left big consequences for its second season, The Boys season 4, and much more. Throughout the show, Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and her supe friends have been trying to unearth the conspiracies underneath Godolkin University.
In this season, Marie has been trying to uncover what led to Golden Boy’s (Patrick Schwarzenegger) violent demise with the help of her classmates. In doing so, she discovered Dean Shetty’s (Shelley Conn) plans to study, torture like with Golden Boy’s brother Sam (Asa Germann), and even kill supes. However, Shetty was killed off by Cate (Maddie Phillips), who’s now enacting her own supe revolution against humanity alongside Sam and those formerly imprisoned in The Woods.
Why Vought Finally Decided To Interfere
With the help of Andre (Chance Perdomo), Emma (Lizzie Broadway), and Jordan (London Thor / Derek Luh), Marie was close to stopping Cate and Sam’s rampage. However, Vought finally decided to interfere by sending in Homelander (Antony Starr) to put an end to things. Despite Marie and her friends attempting to save everyone from Cate and Sam, Homelander decides to place the blame on Marie for causing the “Godolkin 4 Massacre”.
Finding no other option to select a candidate to join the Seven, Vought took this course of action to add to their list of damage controlled-incidents like the flight that kicked The Boys off and influenced Shetty to get revenge.
Why Cate and Sam Are The New Guardians Of Godolkin
When Homelander watches a report of the incident by the end of the episode, it’s revealed that Cate and Sam are the only ones who have been fully integrated into the Guardians of Godolkin, replacing Marie and company. While their time together has been short, Cate and Sam’s unified belief that humanity is evil because of their crimes against them ultimately makes them a formidable power couple that Marie and her friends could face in season 2.
In addition, by making Cate and Sam the faces of Godolkin University, Vought is intentionally making itself an all-supe organization. Near the episode’s end, it turns out Homelander is actually satisfied with his actions, perhaps still influenced by Stormfront and his narcissistic, nationalist roots from Soldier Boy. Plus, Vought CEO Ashley (Colby Minifie) is considered nothing but a mouthpiece for Homelander to control.
What’s Happening Next In Gen V Season 2?
So, where does that put Marie, Andre, Emma, and Jordan for Gen V‘s second season? Considering that the four have been imprisoned by Vought, it looks like they won’t be getting much action as they’ve been put in an isolated prison unlike The Woods or the Red River Institute. However, there might be a hint from the original comics as to what’s in store for Season 2.
In The Boys #30, following the massacre of the G-Men (a parody of the X-Men and the inspiration for Godolkin University), Pre-Wiz, the younger team of the G-Men, were put into a crate on a plane headed to Iceland. Stillwell had the crate launched, sending Pre-Wiz to their untimely demise.
While it’s extremely unlikely that Marie and her friends will be killed in the future, what fans can take away from this is that they’ve been cast away from Vought to a place where they’ll be forgotten by society. It is likely that Gen V season 2 will explore Marie, Andre, Emma, and Jordan’s reintegration into supe society, should they find their way back and escape the clutches of Vought and the Seven.
Whether the old Guardians of Godolkin will team up with The Boys to take down Vought remains to be seen, but the likelihood of this happening is seemingly increasing.
Gen V Season 1 Post-Credits Scene Breakdown
How Gen V fully connects to The Boys Season 4
In the post-credits of Gen V episode 8, it’s revealed that Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) is investigating Vought’s dirty secret of The Woods following a call from Grace Mallory (Laila Robins), which was hinted at in episode 7. However, rather than being interested with utilizing the main four of the show, Billy is more interested with Shetty’s experiments with the virus she was developing.
It could be understood that Billy is hoping to gain the edge on Neuman after her innate betrayal of their cause after The Deep murdered Robert Singer’s previous running mate in the presidential election in addition to stopping Homelander by any means necessary, which can play out in The Boys season 4.
What Is Victoria Neuman’s Plan With The Supe Virus?
With a new element in the game, Neuman has finally gained the upper hand she needed, but her future plans remain a mystery. Considering her situation as a supe, it’s likely that Neuman could find a way to develop a counter-virus that affects humans instead or even hope to kill Homelander given her past with Vought.
With Billy setting his crosshairs on Neuman, things for her will get more complicated as she continues to keep her true identity a secret. Fans can only anticipate what Neuman has up her sleeve as The Boys season 4 continues to near.
Gen V and all seasons of The Boys are now streaming on Prime Video.
