Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) confirmed at this year’s Comic Con Panamá (via @swshriv on X) that he’s been in talks (assumptively prior to the ongoing strikes) to join the DC Universe.

He also noted that the talks he’s had so far have been to dabble with the “possibility” of him joining a movie set in the DC Universe, which movie currently remains unclear.
Giancarlo Esposito Confirms DCU Movie Talks
While talking on stage at the recent Comic-Con Panama event, Esposito was asked if his fans would ever get the chance to see him in a live-action DC movie one day.
Esposito kindly responded by confirming that he has indeed already had talks with DC Studios boss James Gunn about possibly joining a movie project.

“I had been talking to James Gunn,” he told the audience, which would have been prior to the ongoing WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. He continued by telling the excited crowd that the talks were “about the possibility of being in a movie.”
Which DCU Movie Was He Talking About?
As of writing, it is currently unclear as to which DCU movie Esposito was referring to at the event, assuming that he knows which project he’s been in talks to join. It’s likely that he’s been told just as much as we have.

However, it’s safe to assume that it could very well be for Superman: Legacy, as the Breaking Bad star teased that “it could happen soon”. Gunn’s Superman flick is set to be the first official movie of his newly planned DCU slate.
Who Is Esposito Playing In Gunn’s DCU?
It may be safe to assume that, if in talks to join Superman: Legacy, it could be for the main villain role. Iconic DC villains such as Lex Luthor and Brainiac have been heavily theorised to be the first big bads to join the DCU.

Esposito could also be in talks to star as a protagonist, it’s simply too early to tell due to the lack of information and evidence that has been provided so far.
Esposito Wants To Be A Hero, Not A Villain
Funnily enough, theories as to which villain Esposito could play in the DCU may be a waste of time, as the star reportedly confirmed at the event that he’d be far more interested in playing a hero (as per @swshriv on X).
This just opens up a can of worms, with worms being the possible characters that he could play, from the likes of Commissioner Gordon to Martian Manhunter.
It’s truly going to be case of “time will tell”.
