The film featured two post-credits scenes (including one mid-credits scene), a step down from its predecessor which featured 5 post-credits scenes. You can read our explanation of both the scenes below:
Mid Credits Scene
The mid-credits scene features a new Guardians line-up embarking on a mission. This team consists of Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). Who are joined by Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), Phyla-Vell (Kai Zen), Cosmo (voiced by Maria Bakalova), and joined by Blurp (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker).
In the scene, the team discuss their favourite music artists on a desert planet (visually similar to Tatooine). Phylla mentions Britney Spears and Korn, Kraglin prefers Garth Brooks, Adam Warlock goes for King Crimson; and Cosmo says “The Carpenters do not have a single bad song.” Rocket puts on Redbone’s “Come and Get Your Love”, which is a throwback to the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, in which this song w, as used to introduce the audience to Star-Lord.
“Come and Get Your Love” continues to play throughout the entirety of the scene and the credits sequence. The team is revealed to be defending inhabitants of a planet from an alien species, and a rock on which Blurp was resting turns out to be an even more “swole” version of Groot, reminiscent of Alpha Groot from the comics.
Post Credits Scene
The post-credits scene features Star Lord (Chris Pratt) back on Terra, having breakfast with his grandfather Jason (Greg Henry), who reads a newpaper. The duo discuss mowing the neighbours lawn, after which the scene cuts to “The legendary Star-Lord will return”.
The newspaper headline reads “Alien Abduction: Kevin Bacon Reveals All.”, which is a reference to The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, in which Mantis and Drax kidnapped Kevin Bacon as a Christmas present for Peter. This also implies that Vol. 3 takes place not too long after the holiday special.
