Harrison Ford first played the iconic Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Last Ark back in 1981, with four sequels that have now followed including the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the actor has now confirmed he the fifth instalment will be his last time playing the fictional archaeologist and adventurer.
While speaking to Total Film Magazine, Ford confirmed “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”, confirming that the fifth Indiana Jones instalment will be both his last time playing the character and that it will be the closing chapter of the whole franchise that has now lasted for four decades.
The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor also spoke up on the reports that an Indiana Jones TV series is currently in the works, telling Total Film Magazine that he will “not be involved in that, if it does come to fruition.” Although a TV series may be in the works, Ford reaffirmed that Dial of Destiny will indeed be the last official movie of the series, with no plans to return to the franchise post the upcoming sequel.
