Henry Cavill predicted Superman vs Black Adam back in 2018

Superman vs Black Adam with Shazam

Henry Cavill has been trending as of late due to his special appearance in DC’s Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson. Now, if you haven’t watched Black Adam yet, be warned as this article will contain spoilers regarding the post-credit scene.

It came as no surprise that Henry Cavill was asked to return as Superman for the Black Adam post-credits scene. However, did you know that he actually predicted something like this would happen all the way back in 2018? Cavill actually had quite the idea for what could be done with Superman and Black Adam in the DCEU.

Henry Cavill Pretty Much Called It

When Cavill was asked about Black Adam at 2018’s CinemaCon, he gave some pretty good theories on what might happen in the future. He begins by confirming that he believed his Superman would inevitably meet the DCEU’s, Black Adam. However, he continues to talk about how he thinks that would be played on screen.

His theory goes into the idea of Superman fighting Black Adam in a future Man of Steel movie, possibly featuring a Shazam team-up. He was also pretty spot on that Black Adam would be originally teased in a Shazam-related franchise as “it would make sense that way”. Funnily enough, Black Adam was hinted at in a deleted scene from Shazam.

So, does Henry Cavill’s return as Superman mean that his 2018 prediction will be seeing the light of day now? There has been no official announcement from DC, the cast, or their representatives about the future of Black Adam. Although, it is clear that they know which direction they want to head in due to the post-credit scene.

However, this wouldn’t be the first time that a post-credit scene in the DCEU doesn’t evolve into anything on screen for some time. For example, Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke post-credit scene in Justice League hasn’t seen much action. This will mostly be due to the fact that his scene was from the Snyder Cut, and technically not from the main DCEU.

Man of Steel 2 Potential

Man of Steel 2

Man of Steel kicked off the DCEU all the way back in 2013, nearly a decade ago as of writing this article. Fans were quick to state that the BvS (Batman vs Superman) sequel to Man of Steel was not worthy to be classed as a direct sequel. However, DC fans are still very eager for a dedicated Man of Steel sequel with Henry Cavill.

Henry Cavill returning as Superman in the DCEU could mean that he is still all for a Man of Steel 2 movie. Sadly though, there has been no official word from Cavill so fans will just have to wait and see. However, the potential villains and team-ups that could appear in the sequel are quite interesting at this point of the DCEU.

Black Adam Rotten Tomatoes Score

Black Adam Superman Movie

Black Adam is currently sitting at a rotten 41% on Rotten Tomatoes but an amazing 89% via the audience score. When it comes to Superhero films and tv shows, the creators of these franchises are always clear that the audience matter most. So a 90% audience score must mean good things for Dwayne Johnson’s future as Black Adam in the DC’s Extended Universe.

We may even get to see Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam appear in the next Shazam movie which is set to release in 2023. It is called Fury of the Gods, after all, so maybe Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso won’t be the only furious gods to show up.
