Ant-Man is one of the only superheroes whose suit has been modified in every single one of his MCU appearances. From 2015’s Ant-Man to 2023’s Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, his suit has certainly come a long way. Coming in and out of the Quantum Realm, facing Earth’s mightiest heroes, and being mailed to Luis clearly justify the need for improvements and changes in his suits. The most noticeable change in design and utility is yet to come, which we will break down in this article.
The first trailer for this movie featured a scene of Cassie showing her invention to the Ant-Fam; “a two-way radio, but quantum”. The very same device proceeded to create a portal to another universe and sucked the entire family in. What happens between them falling into the other universe and them meeting Kang is unknown, but the obvious implication is that they will explore the Quantum Realm in two different teams until they reunite to face the conqueror. The only doubt facing geeks in the plot is how Scott, Hope, and Cassie manage to wear Pym-suits in the final act of the movie, clearly evident in the trailers. Neither of them were wearing suits before getting sucked through the portal. Wearing suits beneath normal clothing would be very impractical, but we finally might know how Scott manages to save the day by taking a page out of Tony Stark’s book.
Stark Tech? Pym Tech?
In Ant-Man And The Wasp, we saw how Scott saved Hank Pam from being involved in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War by shrinking the suit and mailing it to Luis. The movie really made it clear how versatile and convenient shrinking things could be; everything from Hot Wheels to Buildings!
The second trailer for the movie featured a short clip of Scott falling into the Quantum Realm, suiting up (just the helmet), and growing in size so that he could land better. The scene made it apparent that it would take place right after the family gets transported. However, it still didn’t clarify how Scott had a suit in the first place.
A new unlisted spot for the movie might have finally explained how Scott dons his iconic suit on the way to the Quantum Realm.
The new spot gave us more context to the trailer scenes and finally explained how Scott donned his suit. In the footage, Scott reaches into his pockets and slaps a piece of tech onto his chest which expands around him. This is clearly a huge upgrade from having to wear the suit, which is much more time-consuming. It is safe to assume that Hope Van Dyne and Cassie Lang will don their suits in a similar manner.
While we have yet to see what the piece of tech exactly is, and how it works, that is exactly something to watch on the big screen!
