Hogwarts Legacy is rumoured to have been in production since early 2017, and with the official release date set for February 10, 2023, the game has been in development for almost six years. After two delays pushing the game into next year, there are great expectations for the game to live up to the hype.
What Scares The Fans
It is not a secret that Hogwarts Legacy is not a straight adaptation or continuation of the hugely popular J.K. Rowling novels and that the game is only set in that magical world. Even though it isn’t a sequel or a new chapter in J.K. Rowling’s saga, it is said that her team closely engaged with the developers on every part of the game to guarantee that it maintains the magical experiences that players and fans have come to expect.
Unfortunately knowing that J.K. Rowling was not directly engaged in the game’s design/development might be unsettling and frightening to many.
What To Expect
Hogwarts Legacy is meant to be an action-packed, immersive role-playing game set in the 1800s that immerses players in the Harry Potter universe by placing them in the middle of the action as a Hogwarts student.
The game appears to offer a variety of activities, such as playing the story, designing your room, engaging in arena fighting and plenty more. With so much to do and the ability to explore what appears to be a very large and well-populated map surrounding the Hogwarts school, along with numerous locations and secrets to find, the average gamer won’t seem to get bored, judging by gameplay and developer descriptions. Every Harry Potter fan and even the veteran gamer will find something exciting to do.
What We Want
We are all looking for something that will keep us entertained for longer than the average 15 hours of gameplay in single-player games. Everyone wants a game that will hook us and make us want to get home after a difficult day at work or school to engage in a story that won’t finish after two nights of gameplay.
We are tired of poorly optimised games, and given the amount of funding, development time, and delays involved, we all want something that will run smoothly and provide a nearly flawless gaming experience without crashes, fps drops, and a large number of glitches. There are so many expensive AAA games with disappointing gameplay and few hours of enjoyment that we just expect more even though our standards have been significantly lowered.
What Everyone Is Thinking
Many Harry Potter fans are anticipating great things from this game since they don’t want to see their beloved film series damaged or spoilt in any way by an incomplete or, to be honest, unfun game. Many seasoned gamers have been waiting for a good AAA single-player game to come out that won’t let them down, like Cyberpunk 2042, because of all the hype surrounding the title and the numerous delays that have made players impatient all over the world. After many discouraging releases from the previous year, they want something thrilling and addictive to start the new year. People are tired of AAA title games announcing release dates for games that never seem to arrive on time.
With expectations high for the release of something that was a part of many people’s childhoods, we all want for this to succeed and allow us to invest countless hours in a game like the good old days. However, there have been too many disappointments with AAA games, and many gamers are losing faith and trust in large companies to develop something that will engage them like all the old games that everyone loves that’s why Hogwarts Legacy Can’t Disappoint.
