Hulu has officially cancelled How I Met Your Father after two seasons without revealing who the father was going to be.
The How I Met Your Mother spinoff series, starring Hilary Duff as the lead character Sophie, aired 30 episodes since its January 2022 premiere. Its predecessor primarily starred Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segal, and Cobie Smulders.
Set in the same canonical universe as the original series, along with featuring cameos from said series by stars such as Harris’ Barney Stinson and Smulders’ Robin Scherbatsky aka Sparkles for die-hard fans.
“In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

The Kim Cattrall-narrated season two, now its final season, concluded on July 11 in front of a live studio audience for the first time. Filming in front of a live audience for the season’s finale was a gesture for the show’s superfans.
Will Season 3 Ever Happen?
From what’s being said, all that is known as of writing is that the How I Met Your Father series has been cancelled after two seasons with no signs of revival.
Cancelled shows in the past have been known to be picked up elsewhere, such as when Brooklyn Nine-Nine was axed by Fox to be later revived by NBC the following day due to the instant fan demand on social media.
It’s currently unclear if a similar move will be taken for the Duff-led spinoff series, especially when considering the fact that the industry is in the middle of a strike crisis between the WGA/SAG-AFTRA and underpaying Hollywood studios.
As of writing, its status is cancelled with no signs of a third season being picked up, however, only time will tell as to what will happen in the future.
Hulu’s How I Met Your Father stars the aforementioned Duff along with Francia Raisa, Christopher Lowell, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma.
How I Met Your Father can be watched on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK.
