Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 officially dropped its teaser trailer this week, revealing an array of new emotions heading into Riley’s head for the sequel as she enters her teenage years.
The teaser trailer, which you can watch below, impressively broke records over at Disney for now being the most-watched animated Disney movie trailer of all time at a whopping 157M+ views across all platforms.
In the first movie, we’re introduced to Riley’s in-head emotion characters Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), and Anger (Lewis Black).
As expected, the sequel will be introducing four new emotion characters, at least that we know of so far.
See below for all four new emotion characters set to be introduced in Inside Out 2.
Anxiety
Played By: Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Asteroid City)
An emotion that teenagers to adults know well, Stranger Things star Maya Hawke voices Anxiety in Riley’s head for Inside Out 2,
Anxiety is featured in the sequel’s official teaser trailer, where she is shown apologizing to the main emotions immediately after meeting them, as she explains she and her fellow new emotions wanted to make a good first impression – hinting that they didn’t.
Being a teenager is not an easy task, especially when anxiety starts to take over – similar to the first movie, the sequel already seems to be shaping up to be an incredibly relatable story.
Ennui
Played By: Not yet announced
Joining Anxiety is Ennui, a dark blue and purple-ish character who seems to be the emotion of being bored, uninterested, and having a lack of excitement in everything – sound familiar?
It’s fair to assume that these new teenage-emotion characters will most likely be taking over Riley’s head during the events of Inside Out 2, with Ennui’s face perfectly resembling an unenthused teenager.
Embarrassment
Played By: Not yet announced
This emotion is Embarrassment, another emotion that many grow up learning the hard way, especially when being a teenager and overthinking everything due to human brains being so messy.
Riley’s head introducing Embarrassment must mean that she will go through embarrassing experiences during the sequel, and with Riley turning 13 and heading into the later years of education, it’s safe to expect most of these experiences will be happening at school.
Envy
Played By: Not yet announced
Last but not least we have the infamous emotion of Envy, another main feeling to be heading to Riley’s teenage head for the upcoming Inside Out sequel.
We all know too well how it feels to be envious of something or someone, a feeling that teenagers are overwhelmed with while growing up.
Inside Out 2 is currently scheduled to release on June 14, 2024.
