Watchmen and A Nightmare on Elm Street star Jackie Earle Haley has publicly announced that he would be interested in returning to the live-action DC universe.
Haley played the DC character Rorschach in Zack Snyder’s 2009 Watchmen movie, however, it looks like he’d be more interested in playing somebody else this time.

Judging by one of his latest social media posts it seems that he’d be far more interested in playing the Batman villain known as the Mad Hatter in Matt Reeves’ sequel.
“I’d Love To See That Too”
One fan took to social media to exclaim how much they would “love” to see Haley take on the role of the Mad Hatter in Matt Reeves’ next Robert Pattinson-led Batman movie.
DC Comics’ Jervis Tetch aka the Mad Hatter is famously known for being an iconic Batman villain, a character who has jamp from the page to the screen multiple times such as in the Gotham TV series and in the Arkham games.

“I would love to see @jackieearle cast as the #MadHatter in a future @Batman film, from Matt Reeves.” said @joshHsmith1991 on Twitter.
Haley soon shared the initial Twitter social media post and captioned it by saying “I’d love to see that, too.”, seemingly confirming his interest in the role.
See below for Haley’s original tweet.
The Watchmen star has been vocal in the past about having an interest in playing a DC villain in what seems to be any project by the sounds of it.

However, joining the Pattinson and Reeves-led Batman movies would be a great choice considering how well the first movie was received by the overall DC fandom.
These tweets were made before the SAG-AFTRA joined the WGA in the joint strike, so an official update on the sequel’s casting won’t be coming anytime soon.
Why The Mad Hatter Work In The Batman 2
Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson proved in The Batman that lesser-used Gotham villains can easily be believable primary antagonists.
This was proved with Paul Dano’s performance as the Riddler who managed to cause more than enough chaos throughout the streets of Gotham for Batman to deal with.

Not to mention the brilliant live-action take in general on the famous DC story, similar to how Christopher Nolan grounded the hero’s telling in his Dark Knight trilogy.
The Mad Hatter would perfectly fit in Reeves’ Gotham City alongside its already established set of villains, it would only seem fitting to add another grounded villain.
