James Gunn is leaving the Marvel world to help Warner Bros. Pictures out with their DC side of things, which in the eyes of many superhero fans, almost feels like jumping ships in the geek world, however, it looks like Gunn wants to bring his MCU buddies onboard alongside him.
While talking to Toronto Sun, Gunn said that he is hoping he can cast Chris Pratt as Krypto the Superdog in his upcoming DC movie Superman: Legacy, the official reboot of the character within Warner Bros. Pictures’ new franchise plan, with Pratt himself seeming intrigued by the idea, telling Gunn that he would do it under one condition, as long as he got paid “crypto” for playing Krypto.
“I was hoping I could cast you as Krypto the Superdog” said Gunn to Pratt, to which Pratt responded with “I’ll do Krypto but you have to pay me in crypto.”, however, the two played the whole thing off by making it seem more like a quick joke, causing speculation as to whether or not there was any seriousness at all about the notion of Krypto the Superdog joining the new DC Universe at Warner Bros.
“I was hoping I could cast you as Krypto the Superdog. You could do motion capture on set and walk around on your hands and knees, but you can’t talk.”

Will Krypto Be In ‘Superman: Legacy’ Or Not?
Despite the two having a bit of a laugh when discussing the notion of Krypto making his live-action debut in the upcoming DC reboot, Pratt went on to say “It sounds like there’s going to be a character called Krypto in Superman…”, with Gunn supposedly confirming this news by adding “It is a scoop, I guess.”
However, their conversation about this topic was cut short and ended with that, so until official confirmation is announced by the cast and crew of Superman: Legacy, DC fans will just have to theorize as to whether or not Gunn will truly be adding Krypto the Superdog to his Superman reboot.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theatres, worldwide.
