DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently dropped hints about the potential involvement of Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff in his revamped DC Universe.
Addressing questions on his personal Threads account, the filmmaker replied to a user who suggested that the two actors should play themselves in the franchise.
Gunn cryptically said: “There are reasons I wouldn’t want either of those actors to play themselves in the DCU!“

This has sparked speculation that the director and writer might have cast, or at least entertained the idea of casting Pratt and Klementieff as fictional characters in DCU. Although no official details have been provided yet.
Pom Klementieff Is Already In Talks To Join
As reported by Variety previously, Pom Klementieff has confirmed having discussions with Gunn about joining the DC cinematic universe, without revealing any character details.
“I’m not gonna tell you guys, but we’ve had conversations and we’re making plans already. But nothing is confirmed yet. There would be one specific character but I can’t tell you that. I knew about the character, and I thought the character was f—king cool.“
Notably, Klementieff had a brief cameo as a dancer in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which means she technically already has a connected role to the DC Universe.
Who Could Chris Pratt Play In Gunn’s DCU?
The idea of Chris Pratt joining the DCU has led many fans to suggest he could be a good fit for the character Booster Gold, an extravagant, corporation-backed superhero from the future.
Notably, Booster Gold is set to star in an upcoming TV series of the same name. It’s uncertain if Pratt is aware of this fan casting or how he feels about the idea.
Gunn is currently focused on rebooting the struggling DCU, which faced challenges in 2023 with underperforming films like Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash. While the most recent DC film, Blue Beetle, has received positive reviews, box office earnings have been mixed.
Gunn’s upcoming projects like Creature Commandos and Superman: Legacy are expected to set a new direction for the cinematic universe, followed by other films like Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Waller, Booster Gold, and Swamp Thing, which will collectively build the storyline of “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters”.
