James Gunn has shared a new look at the behind-the-scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios’ upcoming May movie, which is set to say goodbye to multiple members of the classic MCU team, with speculation that this may be the last Guardians instalment.
Gunn shared the new image on Instagram, where he captioned it with “Humanimals on the set of #gotgvol3 [ANIMAL EMOJIS]”, where three cast members in full Human-Animal costumes can be seen taking a break in-between filming for the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
These new “Humanimals” will play an important part in the new Guardians of the Galaxy instalment, with plenty of footage revealed of both the new MCU species plus the world they inhabit, which the Guardians team can be seen visiting in various trailers and tv spots.
The species are speculated to be the result of Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary’s experiments, the character also responsible for Bradley Cooper’s Rocket the Racoon having the abilities that he has, unlike all other Racoons, of course, with this being teased to be a prominent storyline in the new sequel.
Iwuji’s High Evolutionary has also been shown to be the main antagonist of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, however, multiple antagonists are set to appear such as Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha who was last seen in the second movie, alongside Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock who will most likely become a hero in the end, similar to the comics adaptation of the character.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes to theatres on May 5th, 2023.
