Jenna Ortega (Scream VI, Wednesday) has officially been cast as the daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2, along with the reveal that Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) has joined the cast, with Ryder set to return alongside Michael Keaton (The Flash, Batman).
Besides this information, details on the sequel to the 1988 classic Beetlejuice are being kept tightly under wraps, with the plot of the sequel only revealing the fact that Keaton will be returning to play the titular character, with new and old cast members.
Although Ortega has been confirmed to be starring as the next generation of the Deetz family, details on her character are being kept quiet, with Theroux’s character being yet to be revealed, with speculation that he could be starring as her father.
Will Johnny Depp Be In Beetlejuice 2?
One question on a lot of minds within the Burton fandom is if Johnny Depp will be making an appearance in Beetlejuice 2, something that has yet to be officially addressed by the cast and crew of the sequel, however, Burton and Depp do have a rather large portfolio of projects together, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Pirates of the Caribbean star was a next addition to the highly anticipated title.
Depp will be starring in the Cannes film festival’s opening slot, a movie entitled Jeanne du Barry, in which he stars as Louis XV, something that could be seen as a clear indicator of his comeback to the showbiz industry, despite his recent controversies with his ex-wife Amber Heard (Aquaman, The Rum Diary).
Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2 releases on September 6, 2024.
