Could the reasoning behind the latest ‘Grinch’ book, ‘How the Grinch Lost Christmas’, be due to a sequel being in the works with previous star Jim Carrey set to return?!
Jim Carrey is reportedly set to return to Universal Pictures for The Grinch 2, where he will be set to reprise his role as the fan-favourite Dr. Seuss titular character.
GFR, an outlet who have a fair share of proven reports, shared the news earlier this year that the Ace Ventura: Pet Detective star will reportedly be heading back into the green suit for another instalment over 20 years after its predecessor How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000).

It’s noted that Carrey seems far more willing to dive into sequels, such as the second Dumb and Dumber flick and the continuous Sonic the Hedgehog sequels – the third of which Ben Schwartz hopes for the star to return in.
Schwartz told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, “I know nothing, yet, and I hope that (…) I know that Jim Carrey did some interviews and they’re not sure if he’s coming back”.
“My hope is that we ALL get to come back, and we all get to do another one, that is my hope of all hopes, because I love that franchise so much and I love the fans and I love all the stuff we’ve made, so, my hope is that we all get to do this third one [Sonic the Hedgehog 3] – it will be the best time.”
What Could ‘The Grinch 2’ Be About?
As for The Grinch 2 movie itself, it’s yet to even be announced.
However, if this report has a shred of accuracy, the sequel will most likely be in development as of the writing of this article – and could potentially be set to be announced sometime soon.
It wasn’t too long ago that Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books released a sequel to the 1957 “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, entitled “How the Grinch Lost Christmas”.

Although the sequel book is fairly recent, its storyline already sounds like a Hollywood movie pitch.
Its official description reads, “The Grinch’s newfound Christmas spirit is in jeopardy with the arrival of the Whoville’s Christmas tree competition, but can one special Who remind him of what’s really important?”
“A sequel to the timeless classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! featuring all your favourite characters!”
“The Grinch has grown to LOVE Christmas, so when the Grinch sees a poster for Who-ville’s Christmas tree contest, he has an awfully crafty idea… he will show off his new festive spirit by making the tallest, most spectacular Christmas tree the Whos have ever seen!”
“But when things don’t go as planned, will the Grinch return to his grinchy ways, or can one special Who remind him of the true meaning of Christmas?”
