Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) has been rumoured more than most this past year to be playing Fantastic Four‘s Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Fantastic Four is currently in development with Matt Shakman directing.
While talking to Josh Horowitz in front of a live staged taping for one of his Happy Sad Confused episodes, Comer was asked whether she had heard the casting rumours, plus some additional Marvel conversations.
Horowitz asked Comer “are you a big Marvel fan, by the way, Jodie?”, to which Comer simply responded with “No. [AUDIENCE LAUGHS] I think I know where this is going.”
Comer was then asked by Horowitz “are you familiar with the Fantastic Four, Jodie Comer?”, to which Comer responded, “I am now, after the last year.”, then being asked “heard of this lady, Sue Storm?”, which Comer answered “yeah I have [LAUGHS]”, confirming that she has indeed seen the recent casting rumours regarding herself playing Sue Storm for the MCU.
Comer was also asked if she has ever met or spoken to Marvel’s CCO Kevin Feige, which Comer confirmed she has not, as Comer told the audience “no, guys, I don’t know anything about it” and went on to add that she knows people won’t fully believe her, as she told everyone “I feel like when I say this, people are like ‘okay’, It’s like you can’t win“.
Jodie Comer Says ‘Never Say Never’ To Joining The MCU
Despite Comer confirming that the casting rumours are false, Horowitz did go on to ask Comer if joining the MCU would be of any interest, to which Comer responded:
“never say never, but like right now (…) no, but I think never say never, right? You know (…) as I’ve said before (…) usually when you finish one project, you then wanna try something very different, so, I don’t know… maybe”.
