Agatha: Coven of Chaos is set to be Marvel’s most packed series yet. In the last few weeks, the studio has been on a casting spree. The show has casted Aubrey Plaza, Eric Andre, Ali Ahn, and Maria Dizzia. Evan Peters and Emma Caulfield were also confirmed to reprise the roles of Ralph Bohner and Dottie respectively! The series has also been confirmed to be a 9-episode event.
Last week, Variety exclusively reported that Joe Locke had been cast in Coven of Chaos. After the report, fans started speculating whether the ‘Heartstopper’ star might be playing Wanda Maximoff’s son, Billy Kaplan. A new exclusive by The Illuminerdi has further supportive evidence which conclusively proves that Joe Locke is indeed portraying Wiccan.
Is Joe Locke Playing Billy Kaplan in ‘Agatha: Coven Of Chaos’?
The Illuminerdi’s sources described Joe Locke’s character as “a gay teen with a darker sense of humor“. He lives in the moment, is witty, astute, and can sometimes be a little fanboy. Marvel Studios was looking for an actor with “great comedic timing” and a focus on dramatic acting chops.
The description fits Wiccan’s description very accurately. In the comics, Billy was a huge fan of The God of Thunder, Thor. In fact, his first codename was ‘The Asgardian’!
If that wasn’t enough, here’s something more.
“The studio is currently casting Patrick, a man in his 40s, who is authentically Jewish. He is supposed to appear in 1-3 episodes. But that’s not all, as they are also casting a white woman, also in her 40s and also optimally authentically Jewish. We can confirm that Maria Dizzia has been cast in this role.”

The Jewish couple fits the description of Billy Kaplan’s parents, Rebecca and Jeff Kaplan. In the comics, after Billy and Tommy – the children of Wanda Maximoff – disappear, Billy is reborn as Billy Laplan, while Tommy was reborn as Thomas Shepherd.
An MCU Original Character in ‘Agatha: Coven Of Chaos’
The Illuminerdi also reported that Marvel Studios is casting a new character named ‘Evelyn’. The casting call described the character as a “strong, evil and ancient soul” in a recurring role. Since this character isn’t derived from the comics, we’ll have to wait and watch what Marvel conjures up.
Marvel is casting Evelyn. They are looking for all kinds of actresses in almost any age range with any ethnicity. She has to portray a strong, evil, and ancient soul and has to convey emotions without speaking. Her presence alone must have a chilling effect on the ones in her midst. The role requires strong physical agility and Marvel highly encourages actresses with stunt, dance, acrobatic, movement, and motion capture experience to apply. Evelyn is set to appear in three episodes.

“The Gayest Marvel Show”
Insider ‘The Watcher’ on Twitter described the 9-episode series as “the gayest Marvel show”. They added that the tone was described to them as “American Horror Story: Coven meets Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”
“When I said Coven of Chaos was going to be the gayest Marvel show, I didn’t just mean some of the cast I also meant it was going to be campy. The tone was described to me as American Horror Story: Coven meets Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”
