John Boyega has been transparently vocal in the past about his negative experience when filming as Finn in Star Wars and how he felt his character was treated by Disney.
However, the Pacific Rim Uprising actor had nothing but pleasant things to say during his recent interview with Ebony Magazine. As he confessed he still looks at old videos of his time on set and reminisces about his time with his old Star Wars co-star and crew members such as Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight) and Daisy Ridley.
John Boyega Misses His Star Wars Co-Stars
Boyega reflected on his professional Star Wars experience on a more positive note than usual when speaking to Ebony. Saying that nowadays he often finds himself chuckling at toys of his ex-Storm Trooper character Finn aka FN-2187.
“I always think about the memories of the experience. The other day I was going through my phone, and I found a video of me and [costar] Oscar Isaac playing the video game Street Fighter between takes.
You kind of miss these people after a while, like Oscar and Daisy [Ridley], and those connections that you made; the filmmaking experience, what I learned from watching the producers do their jobs — what that meant. And [when I] go to a store and see a Finn action figure or something, it just makes me chuckle.”

Says Star Wars Brings Back Sweet “Memories”
Continuing from what Boyega said above was the confession that now nothing but the “sweetest memories” are conjured when thinking back to his Star Wars days.
“I feel like a retired superhero. It’s weird; this thing follows me wherever I go. But for me, it brings back the sweetest memories, and it reminds me of how far I’ve come independent of that.”

It seems that Boyega can now look back on his experience and reflect on the more positive aspects of his experience.
Could John Boyega Be Returning To Star Wars?
One question that may arise from Boyega’s new attitude toward the franchise is whether or not he’d be up to return to the big or small screen as Finn once more. While speaking to Ebony, the discussion of a potential return was never brought up.
It’s already been announced that Daisy Ridley will reprise the role of Rey which also came as quite a surprise to most fans. With Star Wars projects such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett receiving nothing but high praise. It’s fair to assume that the franchise is starting to gain back its trust in both fans and cast members alike.

One thing’s for sure, Boyega’s Finn deserves more time for his character to be explored and developed which was one of Boyega’s main concerns of his main trilogy. The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker all feature his character quite prominently, especially when it came to the marketing side of things.
Could a Disney+ spinoff for Boyega’s Finn be the solution? Just as Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff with the same name came to fruition. Only time will tell what his Star Wars future holds. You can watch him in his new Netflix movie They Cloned Tyrone where he stars alongside Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris.
They Cloned Tyrone releases on July 14 exclusively on Netflix.
